Baby Shower!

I had my baby shower last weekend and it was great!  It was hosted by mom and sisters and they did such a great job!  I got a ton of stuff that we needed off of our registry and I can't be more thankful!

Unfortunately, I don't have any pictures because I didn't bring my camera and the pictures that I have seen of myself from the shower are horrible but I can assure anyone that was not there, my mom really blew me away with all of the time and effort that she put into the shower!

The theme was Country Christmas and I got a bunch of ornaments for Baby Murphy, all of my presents were wrapped in Christmas wrapping paper, and there were little Christmas trees (provided by Tim's Mom) on all of the tables.

Thank you to everyone who came (and those who couldn't make it but sent gifts) and especially thank you to Mom, Marie, and Carriann for putting on the best shower I've ever had!  I am so happy to have a family like you!

Now back to the not so fun part about my shower...writing thank you cards with fat, swollen fingers!

Love,
Sharon

Operation Empty Freezer

Over the past few months I have been trying to empty our freezer to leave room so that I can prepare dinners and other meals for when BM gets here...I haven't done a very good job because each time I make dinner I have a ton of leftovers but we are slowly making our way through them!  I think I should have a lot of the freezer cleared out for me to begin making freezer meals, unfortunately I don't know what to make....here is my request of you:

Please post your favorite freezer meal recipe so that I can stock our freezer full of yummy (and somewhat healthy) meals for when Baby Murphy gets here.

Thanks!!

Love,
Sharon

A Letter to Family and Friends

Hey Everyone,

I got some bad news today from Sinai hospital.

Thanks to H1N1 the hospital will only be allowing 3 visitors per mom and baby and those visitors must be the same people throughout the entire time we are there delivering and recovering.

What this means-  The new rule counts Dad as a "visitor" so since Tim will be with me the entire time only 2 visitors will be allowed in to see us.  The limit of 3 also counts my Doula as a "visitor" so if I decide to use a Doula (which I most likely will) she will be visitor #2 which leaves only 1 visitor allowed to see us before, during and after Baby Murphy's birth...I can't even begin to think how Tim and I would make that decision because it wouldn't be fair for anyone.

So, most likely (unless the hospital changes their rules) everyone will have to wait to see Baby Murphy until he comes home.

I can't even explain how upset I am about this (I'm sitting at my desk crying as I'm typing this)...I've always looked forward to my family and friends coming to the hospital to meet the baby for the first time on the day he is born, now, unless for some amazing reason they let us leave the hospital the same day I deliver, Tim and I will be the only ones celebrating Baby Murphy's Birth Day with him :(

Love,
Sharon

Happy Anniversary to Us!

Tim and I celebrated our 1 year wedding anniversary a few weeks ago in Western Maryland. We stayed at the Rocky Gap Resort which was beautiful, had an amazing dinner at a little Italian Restaurant in Cumberland and took a train ride on the Western Maryland Scenic Railroad...it was such a simple little trip that allowed us to relax and be alone together and enjoy some good ole QT.  Thanks to everyone who sent cards, gifts and also those who called/texted to wish us a happy day!  We love you!

Here are some pics from our trip!!

DIY Maternity Pictures

Last weekend (not the one that just passed) Tim, Bella and I went camping on Assateague Island and had a great time!  It was the first camping trip for Bella and she did ok sleeping in the tent but loved getting to play in the ocean and waves for the first time ever (once she got over being scared of the waves).  While we were on the beach Tim snapped a few pictures of me and my bump and I think they turned out pretty good.

Dear H1N1...

Kiss my a$$!

I am so sick of hearing and reading about you! The media has built you up so much that I can't even look at the news without having to hear about you and how "deadly" you are! I'm not buying it!

I understand that you have been given the honor of an epidemic and deemed a national emergency but I think you are just a stupid flu that has been blown out of proportion by everyone! Don't get me wrong, I will probably be vaccinating against you (if the vaccine is EVER available without me having to stand my 7 month pregnant ass in a line for 5 hours) but come on...thousands of people also die every year from the "regular" flu and it never gets as much attention as you, WTF?!

The final straw was the letter that I received from my hospital to let me know that nobody under 18 will be allowed in the hospital to visit and there will only be 3 people (including Tim) allowed to visit us in my room at a time after Baby Murphy is born...that means if our family and friends want to visit us only 2 will be allowed in at a time...this is just ridiculous. I don't even know what to say, I am just mad...you are lucky that my sister just turned 18 in July otherwise there would be serious problems!

Please swine flu can you just F-off!?

Sincerely,
Sharon

"Poor Baby!"

This is what I hear every time I tell someone when Baby Murphy is due..."Oh, that poor child! My [sister, brother, mom, dad, daughter, self] was born around/on Christmas and hates it!"

While I know that it isn't our fault that he is going to be born around Christmas, I still feel terrible for him (even though he's not even here yet) because I know how important my Birthday is to me as my special day...all I hear about are the horror stories from people getting jipped when it comes to Birthday/Christmas presents....and yes, for me as a child coming from a very not religious family, Christmas was all about getting presents!

Tim and I have tried to come up with ways to make the Baby's Birthday separate from Christmas on our own and by asking people whose birthdays fall toward the end of December. We know that we can't control what others do as far as making the two celebrations separate but here are some things that Tim and I have come up with and are thinking of doing to make it easier on him (and to not despise us for giving him such an unfortunate birthday):

1. Birthday presents wrapped in Birthday paper, Christmas presents wrapped in Christmas paper

2. Celebrating his birthday in the summer (on his half birthday) so he can have a party that his friends will be able to attend

3. Separate presents for separate Holidays. No combined Birthday and Christmas gifts in one

4. If he is born after Christmas but still within the Christmas season, attempting to take down all Christmas decorations by the time his Birthday comes (not sure we like this one)

5. Family Birthday celebrations not held on the same day that we celebrate Christmas with our families

Any other suggestions??
